The true meaning....

Today on Facebook I've seen many different posts of people saying that they were sorry that they couldn't afford a bunch of presents this year that the only people who would be getting gifts were those very close to them.

Christmas isn't found under the tree with a bunch of presents, it isn't found in the shopping malls packed with crazy people, Christmas is found in your heart surrounded by the ones you love. Too many people today think that Christmas is about the gifts.

I can't tell you a single thing I got for Christmas last year, I can tell you what I did though. I can tell you who I spent Christmas eve and Christmas day with, I can tell you what I ate, I can even vividly remember that it wasn't very cold out, but I can not tell you what gifts I received.

You see, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of our savior and spending time with the ones you love, not about the gifts.  They're nice in the moment, but you won't remember who gave it to you a week after you open it.

Don't dwell on not being able to afford gifts for your loved ones,  I'm positive they would rather have you there with them instead of a bunch of gifts.
