So I'm already making new years resolutions and it's only December 4th... I think I am that ready for a new and exciting year. SO much good is going to happen in the year 2013 and I can't wait to see what the year will hold. Patrick is graduating from Clemson, and we shall soon start a new life somewhere. So in all of the good things that are going to happen I want to make some positive changes.
- Do at least two loads of laundry every day.
I know that sounds crazy and isn't exactly what people would think a new
years resolution would be, but you don't understand my hatred towards
laundry. If I was a billionaire I would just buy new clothes every day,
I hate laundry that much. I wait until the last minute to do it and
it's unnecessary, I could save myself a lot of time and frustration if I
would just wash, fold and put away two loads of laundry every day; so
that is what I am going to do. No more digging through clothes to find
what I need, it will either be folded or hung in the closet.
- Find a steady job, with a guaranteed salary.
Good luck right?! Well, I like to think of myself as a determined person
and there are jobs out there you just have to dig and be patient. With
a lot of determination I know I will be able to find a job that meets
the requirements I need to help my family.
No more cutting my hair unless it is absolutely necessary. I want my long flowing hair back and the only way I'm going to do that is by not cutting it. I want to use shampoo that is going to add nutrients to my hair and help keep it healthy (any suggestions?!). I WILL have long hair by Christmas 2013.
I don't want to set an exact number of pounds I want to loose because any weight off is a positive thing. I want to start an everyday work out routine that I keep up. I will set a goal to loose 4 pant sizes by this time next year! I can do it... I can do it... I can do it...
The amount of clutter that I have in my house is crazy. I have a lamp that I don't even use!!!! What the..? I want to declutterize (is that a word) my house. Get rid of the unnecessary and allow room for the more important and necessary things.
- Be on top of my finances.
Come January 1st I'm 100% on my own. I'll pay my own car insurance, cell phone, rent, cable, lights, water ect. My parents will no longer pay for any of those things (they only pay for my car insurance right now). So with the added expenses I HAVE to be on top of things. I can not leave any room for failure for my finances or myself. In order for me to do that, I have to start couponing again. Work hard, play hard right?!
- Be a better friend and girlfriend.
I don't by any means think that I am a bad friend or girlfriend, but everyone can improve on things. I know there are times I should be there for my friends and I'm not. There are times when I could have done things and I honestly just didn't feel like it. I have to stop putting unnecessary things first in life and focus on the important things. I can honestly count my true friends on one hand, which I am fine with, but that give me no excuse to go weeks with out speaking to some of them. The golden rule in Elementary School was "Treat others the way you wish to be treated". I think it's time I start living by that rule again.
"Making resolutions is a cleansing ritual of self assessment and
repentance that demands personal honesty and, ultimately, reinforces
humility. Breaking them is part of the cycle." -Eric Z.
Such a long list of things... some of which will be broken, some won't. I refuse to allow myself to go another year with out making goals and sticking to them. The goals above will be accomplished one step at a time!
I encourage every one to make a set of goals and keep them posted where you can see them every day. Your list does not have to be as long as mine, it can even be one goal, just make it and stick to it. It's always a wonderful feeling when you accomplish a goal.
Believe in yourself, and others will believe in you too!
Kay
